I've been working on fleshing out the rest of the plotline continuing The Word Smith mini-comics I've done. So far, it looks like it'll clock in at about 12 episodes, depending a little on how I finalize the break down. As part of that, I've been doing a bit of work on character design for some of the characters that will be appearing in future episodes.
This shows characters that will be appearing in episode 4. They are (minus the rightmost one) the in-game characters of the three g4m3rz from episode 1 for the game they play (you can see the characters on their laptop screens on the first page so it should be possible to deduce which is which). The rightmost character is not one of the g4m3rz but is acquanted with them. In the actual sketchbook drawing, her legs ended up being too long (I shortened them in photoshop) which is a result of a problem I run in to sometimes - I have a tendancy to focus too much on the details too soon sometimes and don't want to erase something that I've spent a lot of time on when I notice things are a little off. In this case, that was her armour, which was based off of my favourite piece of armour from Final Fantasy XI.
And here's an individual shot of the rightmost one. She uses a gladius style sword. I may not keep the cheek mark as I think it probably makes her look too much like one of my FR characters.
Whelp, that's all for this installment. Tune in next time when we continue to flog the weeb.

Eye in the Sky With Bacon
So. Stuff and Things. A couple of miscellaneous things from the sketchbook today. First up is an attempt at a semi-realistic eye because, I suppose, that was what I felt like drawing at the time:
With a little comic at the bottom commenting on the creepiness factor of a floating eye. But hey, everything's better with bacon, right?
Next up, it's time once again for a hand drawing bonanza! Because, hey, you can never have too much practice drawing hands. These ones are more like the first batch of hands I did since there are no props involved.
Rock on, hands. Rock on.
The next post will probably get into some more character design I've been working on for a future episode of The Word Smith. But until then,

New Adventures
I guess it's time for another post or something. Not, I'm sure, that anyone was really wondering "hey, when's that freak going to make another post?" Answer to a question nobody asked, I guess.
Anyway, today is two related comic pages from my sketchbook (not drawn consecutively, however):
Not entirely sure where I'm going with these or if I'll do any more of them. I guess that will depend on if any further ideas come to mind and whether or not I feel like doing more. Only time will tell. Failing that, I'll tell time.

Word Smith Episode 2
I've taken a break from my regular drawing in order to finish off the inking for episode 2 of The Word Smith. Rather than post the whole thing here (seeing as the pencils have already been posted to this blog) I decided to put them up here (starting with the title page which has appeared in a previous post).
And that would seem to be all for today.

Lectures and Things
I was at a computer graphics conference last week (which is what the poster was for) which was... well, a bit boring, in all honesty. While there were some interesting papers presented, the conference itself was a lot like sitting in a lecture all day and lectures can often be a bit dull, even when the subject matter itself is interesting. This also wasn't helped by the fact that some of the speakers weren't really all that good at giving talks. But I went prepared and had my trusty sketchbook with me to keep me entertained.
This was the view looking up from the registration desk, as I spent one uneventful afternoon helping out with registration.
And this was drawn after spending a bit of time watching the trees blowing in the wind outside of the building that the conference was being held in.
Anyway, that is all for the moment.
