Lets just dive in without any witty (or other) preamble.
It's The Pen (still haven't gotten around to picking these characters' actual names...) working on something or other. The background is more-or-less drawn in one-point perspective, though I was being rather loose with it and didn't worry too much about some of the details.
Ended up trying another dragon. Didn't really turn out quite like I was aiming for and I prefered the previous one, but figured I'd upload this anyway. Make of that what you will.
And finally, a little bit of quick character design:
This is for a (hopefully!) one-off thing that I'm considering doing that's related to the poster I submitted to an upcoming graphics conference (which, incidentally, was accepted). I do seem to be somewhat predisposed towards being incapable of doing one-off things, however, so we'll see how that goes.
Anyway, that's all for the nonce.

Cats Are Awesome
Yes, yes they are.
Just a silly little thing I decided to sketch, and I don't think there's anything more that needs to be said about that.
Did some more perspective practice - this time a rendition of my apartment in one-point perspective. Didn't really feel I needed to get all fancy with two-point for my humble abode.
So, there it is, in all its cluttered glory. Drawing the perspective grid was a bit tedious, but turned out ok, over all.

Not A Yak
Once more, back to the drawing board... Starting today off with another two-point perspective piece.
This one was drawn in my small sketchbook (which I don't use often) and was faster than my previous perspective drawing, partly since there are fewer details. I ended up fudging things a bit around the vanishing points and the subway cars are too short (or too tall), meaning I should have spent a bit more time planning things out and/or establishing a scale before randomly drawing stuff. Oh well - practice!
For the next one, I decided to try drawing something else I don't draw very often: animals. And since I like cats I drew, well, a cat - not a yak.
The smaller one (not to scale) was closer to what I was actually going for.
The last drawing for today is of Mal Vandor (only his alias), the main villain from a project that I refer to as "the Kyoujo RPG".
This is, I think, only the second time I've actually drawn this character and I followed the original character design fairly closely, at least for this drawing. The main pose is a bit awkward - I think the spear should probably be held closer to his body and there's still something wrong with the back leg (I think), though it's better than the first attempt.
Anyway, that's all for now.

Have Some Perspective
Most of what I tend to draw is human(oid) characters, I don't usually draw other stuff like, say, scenery. This was one of the more challenging parts of doing my mini-comics - drawing all those things that I don't normally draw, especially when trying to use some sort of vaguely realistic perspective. So, I decided that I should try practicing drawing some perspective and other things from time to time:
The above is a drawing in two-point perspective. While I don't think that the perspective turned out too badly (given my relative inexperience in the subject), I clearly should not be allowed to design buildings and should stick with reference photos, at least until I get some more experience with these things. My reference for perspective is the book "Perspective! For Comic Book Artists" by David Chelsea. I didn't bother with the full construction for two-point, as it's somewhat complicated and time consuming, rather, I used some shortcuts for people who don't care so much about accuracy and just want something that looks reasonable. Even with those shortcuts, it still took me a while to draw - spread out over three days, though I'm sure part of that is due to inexperience.
The next drawing is another of my FR characters:
This isn't one of the characters that I draw very often and I didn't bother going back to check old sketches for reference since I don't mind exploring alternate designs for this character (though I don't think it's too different from previous versions). There are multiple things wrong with the pose - I was trying to work without a reference but, as will no doubt be a theme in this blog, more practice is clearly needed.
Last up for today is the above sketch which is a potential character design for a character that will show up at some point in my Word Smith comics, presuming I end up doing any more with those. Overall fairly happy with how it turned out. No other comments at this time.
And that's all for today. Hope everyone's brains are still firmly inside their skulls.
